I always made music to win in my neighborhood but after all these years I needed to do something bigger — I had to get out of my usual gangster zone without losing who I am, this time around I am going to win worldwide,” Snoop explains. The exciting hip hop pioneer teamed up with the legendary producers Teddy Riley and DJ Quik to form the Executive Producing team, QDT Muzik. The trio started off just doing a couple of songs together but had such great chemistry in the studio that they decided to helm the complete project as one great force. “Snoop” came up with the song concepts, Teddy added his touches to the production and Quik mixed the entire album. The unexpected collaboration sparked creativity and magic in the studio which translated into an amazingly diverse and innovative album. In addition, “Ego Trippin’” marks the first time since “Doggystyle,” Snoop’s first album, that one individual mixed the entire package — adding a continuity to the sounds that play more like a movie instead of a music recording.”Ego Trippin’” showcases groundbreaking material and if the well-received first single (#3 on R&R’s “Urban National Airplay” chart, #5 on Billboard’s “Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs” chart, #8 on Billboard’s “Hot 100″ chart), the “Shawty Redd”-produced “Sensual Seduction” aka “Sexual Eruption” is any indication — fans will embrace the new sounds. “Snoop” recently shot the video for his second single, “Life of Da Party,” produced by Scoop DeVille and featuring another West Coast champ Too $hort, in Las Vegas. The black and white video, directed by Pook Brown, will showcase Snoop in true player fashion as the owner of a beautiful high-roller filled casino (filmed on location at The Palms Hotel Playboy Club).Throughout the album, “Snoop” takes listeners on a musical journey and thematically “Ego Trippin’” pays tribute to those who inspired Snoop over the years. For the streets Snoop delivers “Neva have 2 Worry,” which is a candid retrospective of Snoop’s recording career that everyone can appreciate. He surprises the audience with the song “Johnny Cash” which was written and produced by Whitey Ford (aka “Everlast”). “Johnny Cash” is a country love ballad and is unlike anything anyone has ever heard from a hip hop superstar. One of Snoop’s album favorites is “Say Goodbye,” featuring R&B great Charlie Wilson of The Gap Band. Snoop says, “This song makes me want to cry every time I hear it. It is a reflection of my life and how I have grown as not only an artist but also a man. It is about me staying true to where I came from while having to accept where I am in my life today, it’s deep.”
