Abkco seeks unspecified damages for what it believes is the use of “a clear derivative of the Rolling Stones song with the original lyrics altered in a recognizable way.”The song was originally a B-side to the single “The Last Time,” and it can be found on the 1965 Rolling Stones album Out of Our Heads. Abkco’s argument centers on the original Rolling Stones lyric “But don’t play with me, ’cause you’re playing with fire.” The Lil Wayne song of the same name features a similar interpretation of the lyric, with Wayne saying, “But you can’t blame me if I set this stage on fire.”
Additionally, Reuters reports Abkco believes Lil Wayne’s version, which is included on Tha Carter III, uses “explicit, sexist and offensive language” which could reflect poorly on their company and the Rolling Stones. Representatives for Lil Wayne and Cash Money/Universal have yet to comment on the lawsuit. Tha Carter III is currently the number two album in the country with RIAA certification of over 2 million units shipped. We at Hiphopspy know Lil Wayne doesnt have a chance going up against the Rolling Stones, they got crazy money. They been in the business for 40 years and could buy universal if they wanted, there is not a bigger group in the world in any genre of music. If Wayne thinks he has the money to make this go away he is fooling himself, the rolling stones are all billionaires, and billionaires dont lose cases, and they dont settle out of court for little money. The Rolling Stones have sold out every concert for the last 20 years, they only do concerts in stadiums that hold 60,000 people minimum at 100 dollars a ticket, you do the math, Lil Wayne cannot sell out a stadium anywhere, never has never will. Everytime they tour they clear half a billion or more. They probaly are going to take all the money he made off carter 3 and then some. Wayne is going to learn a hard lesson on this one.

wayne better just hand them stacks over
MAN shit like this jus gets on my nerves
w/e watch the drama begin
Wayne is trash. This will hopefully be the end of fake ass Wayne. He can’t freestyle or even write his own shit. Gillie owns Wayne.
Haha. This shit is stupid as fuck. I listen to the Rolling Stones song, just to see how much it really does relate. Yeah, obviously Lil Wayne used the song, but the lyrics are not the same anywhere. That’s one of the best songs on the Carter III, and only because of the lyrics. I mean for real, who even listens to the fucking Rolling Stones anymore? Lil Wayne is one of, if not, the biggest artist out. Just let him do what he does best, fuck all your money hungry haters, jealousy gets you no where.
& Btw.. Gillie does not own Lil’ Wayne. Gillie is straight garbage, he’s a youtube whore. Fuck Gillie and his wanna be famous ass.
Um the Rolling Stones SELLS OUT stadiums not clubs - stadiums for at least $100 a ticket..so yeah I don’t think Lil Wayne compares to them in that respect and probably never will. You talking 4 decades of putting out music, catalog is rediculous. And they gonna win and take his cheese, trust me.
MAN PLEASE….THE ROLLING STONES WERE RICH N FAMOUS INA 70S N SHIT. SURE THEY PROLLY GOT SOME MONEY LEFT OVER FROM DAT, BUT THEY AIN BANKIN LIKE DEY USE 2 ANYMORE. LIL WAYNE IS DA MAN NOW. HE JUS SOLD A MILLIE INA 1ST WEEK AND HE ALREADY PUSHIN 2MIL ALBUMS SOLD. DEES DAYS ARTISTS R MAKIN WAY MORE MONEY THEN DEY DID BACK INA DAY. THIS LAWSUIT WONT EVEN PHASE WAYNE. IT WAS WORTH THE 2MIL COPIES SOLD.
Hey what’s Rollin’ Stones problem. They are already so old and rich enough to live the few years they got left, why take money from Lil Wayne just because they are jealous that Tha Carter III was the most anticipated album of 2007/8. The Rolling Stones should be honored that a ‘SIMILAR’ tune is on the album. Rolling Stone just got nothin’ to do these days so instead just bullies people who might just take their fame and force them to fade out even more.
