Foxy Brown is upset. With her highly anticipated street album Brooklyn’s Don Diva released this past Tuesday (May 13) to barely any fan fare, the Brooklyn-bred rapper has disowned her own CD.In a message posted, Foxy sounded off on her long-awaited album, in which the femcee claims the project was complied without her approval while she was incarcerated for eight months in New York City’s Riker’s Island correctional facility.
“Brooklyn’s Don Diva, my highly anticipated street album which hit stores Tuesday, is, as it was always intended to be, a mixtape street album- the warm-up to my long-awaited, Epic (Records), fourth studio album, Black Roses,” Foxy wrote. “I heard this CD in its entirety for the first time just days ago and was devastated.I am riddled with grief over an album that was seemingly so carelessly orchestrated.”
The set which is the rapper’s first release in over seven-years, was released on Koch Records in conjunction with Foxy’s new imprint, Black Rose Entertainment. Clearly discontent with the handling of the street album, a rehabilitated Foxy chose to deal with the situation the right way.
“In the wake of the profound spiritual cleansing I recently underwent in prison, I sat down with the President of Koch to come to a decision on how to make the best of this situation,” she explained. “In another phase of my life and career I would have dealt with this situation with litigation, but for the benefits of my fans, I made the decision to settle our creative difference amicably.”
Next month, Koch will re-release Brooklyn’s Don Diva with more structure promotional campaign, which includes 5 new records, videos, publicity and mass marketing. To the rapper’s delight, the revamped disc will not hit selves without her approval.
“I am of a certain pedigree,” Foxy stated. “I have an obligation to my fans to deliver the level of product my brand is accustomed to. In order to preserve my artistic integrity, the new release will have my stamp of approval and fingerprints all over it. I believe Koch and I will deliver the biggest street album in female rap history.”
We at Hiphopspy say did she expect to sell alot of cds in this day and age when nobody but fools buy cds? I mean keep it real, and who are her fans? I couldn’t name one song she ever did that charted. She wasn’t happy with the content of this album, does she think it matters what tracks were on the cd. It doesnt matter at all, name recognition moves units, not content. Once again our point is proved, nobody buys cds anymore, and it will only get worse. The biggest street album in female rap history, that is laughable.
