I have been a fan of the New Industry label for a while now. Nobody who is not signed to one of the major label slave contracts grinds harder than New Industry artists Pottersfield. Led by the top Indy artist in NYC St Laz and surrounded by top flite microphone killers Opium, The Boy Bucka, and Wooden Soulja. Pottersfield is fed with a constant stream of beats and instrumentals from the Pen a group of over 50 music producers who pump out more beats then all of the producers on soundclick combined. Why this label is not signed to a major contract is mystery to us at Hiphopspy without a doubt they could go toe to toe man for man DJ to DJ producer to producer with any label on the planet. Check out Pottersfield’s  new video and wonder to yourself why isnt this video isn’t on 106 and park instead of all the garbage lollipop videos they play everyday.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Atlanta rapper T.I. today pleaded guilty to three weapons charges in federal court in Atlanta.

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., entered his plea shortly after 1:30 p.m. He pleaded guilty to two counts of illegally possessing machine guns and silencers, and one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

While I’m not looking forward to being incarcerated, I have a long road of redemption to travel,” Harris said, reading a statement outside the Atlanta federal courthouse shortly before 3 p.m. “I am dedicated and committed to that.”U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. scheduled Harris’ sentencing a year from now, on March 27, 2009. If Harris abides by the conditions set in his plea agreement, he will receive a prison sentence of one year plus one day. Because the sentence is longer than one year, Harris will be eligible to earn 15 percent time off for good behavior.

Harris also was fined $100,000.

Over the next year, Harris must perform at least 1,000 hours of community service, which includes speaking to “at-risk young people,” promoting respect for law enforcement, and opposing violence, illegal and reckless use of firearms, illegal drugs and gang activity.

After the plea, U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said Harris’ agreement to speak to young people about the mistakes he has made should prevent and deter some from committing crimes and ruining their own lives.

This unusual type of outreach, Nahmias said, merits a sentence reduction for Harris, just as it would another defendant whose cooperation helps prosecutors obtain a conviction.

“We believe this resolution is in the public’s interest,” Nahmias said.

Harris did not make any statements during the hearing, offering only polite replies of “yes” and “no” to the judge’s questions.

“Are you guilty of these charges?” Panell asked Harris.

“Yes, your Honor,” said Harris, who donned a gray suit at the hearing.

If Harris does not abide by the terms of the plea agreement, Panell can sentence him up to 57 months in prison. In addition, Harris could face a sentence of up yo 97 months in prison if Panell finds that Harris has not accepted responsibility for his actions.

Harris was indicted in October on weapons charges that include illegally possessing three machine guns and two silencers and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Federal prosecutors and Harris’ defense team had been engaged in intense plea negotiations the past several weeks.

CNN is reporting Rapper T.I. is expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time, according to two people familiar with his case.T.I.

The 27-year-old singer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison, according to two people familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plea deal had not been finalized yet Thursday morning.

His prison time could be increased or reduced, depending on his fulfillment of the terms of the deal and good behavior, they said. His talks to youth groups are supposed to be about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.

The U.S. Attorney in Atlanta announced a change-of-plea hearing was scheduled Thursday afternoon at the federal courthouse. Prosecution officials were expected to speak to the media after the hearing.

U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. must approve the deal.

Harris was arrested October 13, just blocks away and hours before he was to headline the BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.

He was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.

Harris was allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers. He initially pleaded not guilty, and has been under house arrest since he was released on $3 million bond October 26.

He is co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records and one of Atlantic Records’ most successful artists.

Harris grew up in Atlanta. His first taste of success came with his 2003 album, “Trap Muzik.” In 2004, warrants were issued for his arrest on probation violations for a drug conviction, and he was sentenced to three years behind bars.

His sixth album, “T.I. vs. T.I.P.,” was released July 3 and debuted at No. 1.

He co-starred in the 2007 film “American Gangster” with Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

The New York Post reported earlier today rapper Cavlar, who had just begun to claw his way to success with his own music and “Step Up Your Game” DVDs featuring big-name stars, was gunned down yesterday on a Brooklyn street as he stepped out of his Jaguar to meet a promoter.

The rapper and father of three, whose real name is Leval Lyde, was hit by a single shot to the chest on Fulton Street at 4:49 a.m. as his cousin watched in horror.

The shooting came after Lyde, 36, argued with the gunman and two of the killer’s pals - all of whom fled.

“I saw a lady running [and] came outside and she said, ‘They’re killing each over there!’ ” said store owner Amilcar Salvador, 40.

An uncle, Clarence Lamb, was stunned at the “senseless death.”

“Young people killing each other . . . is fruitless,” he said. “It’s crazy, just crazy.”

Police were looking into whether the bloodshed might have been rap-related.

A cousin who asked not to be identified, said Lyde was “a kind person, a loving person.”

On hip-hop Web sites, Cavlar was known for his association with Earthquake Camp Records and the “Step Your Game Up” DVDs, which feature top stars, interviews and videos.

In 2004, he toured with stars Lil Jon and the Ying Yang Twins, and had been featured on Hot 97’s DJ Kay Slay Drama Hour and WBLS’ Wendy Williams Show.

According to the record label, he “honed his writing and rapping skills while serving time in New York’s Arthur Kill Correctional Facility” - which he said helped steer him to a music career.

He served time on assault and weapons charges, Department of Correction records show.

The man kisser aka the troll aka the worst rapper alive Lil wayne says in a interview with some british dude that he sent Eminem a track to get on but Eminem never did it. Then he says maybe he was busy but then he says maybe he was scared then he laughs. We at Hiphopspy think Eminem probaly received the track and it was so trash as most tracks from wayne are, so then Eminem just shook his head and threw it in the trash. Watch the video if you can stomach looking at the troll. We made the youtube pink cause wayne would of wanted it pink.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usI hate it so much when rappers brag about taking 5 minutes to write their lyrics, especially when the end result is the worst song ever. Who do they think they are impressing? I don’t want to point anyone out, because a lot of rappers are guilty of writing down the first thing that comes to mind and having the nerve to record it, but Juelz Santana needs to be called out. I heard little Juelz say he took 2 minutes to write his verse for one of these mixtape songs. I can believe it because  no one would believe you took an hour to write most of the garbage you spit. And you do an incredible diservice to yourself as an artist and to the fans and hip hop as a whole by releasing this sub-par material.

  • It doesn’t impress anyone that you took 30 seconds to write your verse, other than maybe the fourteen year olds dreaming of becoming rappers. It’s not cool to chicken scratch a rap in five minutes if the end result is trash.
  • I understand, not everyone can record good songs on the fly like a Jay-Z or a Tupac. But not everyone can be rappers and neither should you. You see how that works? I remember when a diss used to be “oh he can’t rap”, today everyone can rap, but not rap good. If your not a great rapper, like the aforementioned, take the time to write good well thought out verses with good well thought out catchy flows.
  • Don’t just write the first thing that comes to your peanut head mind. You might get a one hit wonder hit song like soulja boy or hurricane chris, but 3 years from now I guarantee they will be flipping burgers somewhere because the hit song was trash and nobody who is a real hiphop head respects trash tracks even if they did make the top 10. With that said The probability of you writing a great verse on your first try is so low that its pretty much pointless to even record that sh*t. If your a rapper reading this, take a moment to think of how different the rap game would be if rappers took a day, a month, a year to write a verse? It took Michelangelo four years to paint the Sistine Chapel and he didn’t even really finish it until 30 years later. He is consider one of the greats because of his unwaivering commitment to quality, don’t you want to be great? Don’t you want to be the best? Then dont record garbage tracks because the beat cant hide your piece of sh*t flow. Keeping it real as always hiphopspy.

Don’t mess with the British. Lil Wayne had to learn this the hard way. While pacing the stage to the audio of “It’s Me Bitches” remix during a show in London at the Stratford Rex a couple of days ago, a topless Lil Wayne was the target of a bottle thrower in the crowd.”Now whoever just did that? This whole muthafucking crowd needs to go beat his ass because he just fucked up my show,” the infuriated rapper, real name Dwayne Carter, said. Before the rapper could angrily exit the stage, another person pelted a bottle at the star. You notice Lil wayne doesnt go in the audience and deal with the punk who threw the bottle. Like a jellyfish with no backbone he left, and to make it even worse he was in London, I mean the average american female mc could whip half of the men in a english crowd. Lil wayne who kisses men has reached the level  of bitch status.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us Hip-hop is back on top of Billboard’s Top 200 chart, at least for a week.Rick Ross’s “Trilla” debuted at the #1 spot, selling like 98 units last week. Snoop Dogg came in at #3 this week overall, selling 37 copies of his new album “Ego Trippin’,” which has been fueled by the top ten single “Sensual Seduction”. “Ego Trippin’” marks snoops lowest debut ever.Fat Joe’s “Elephant in the Room” claimed the #6 spot overall, but was significantly behind Ross and Snoop, selling 6 copies its first week. The end is near for the major labels cant you see it.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usIn an explosive story published today by the L.A. Times, one reporter claims to have obtained confessions from two men involved in the 1994 shooting of iconic West Coast rapper Tupac Shakur. One of those men says Czar Entertainment honcho Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond was behind the attack.Tupac was beaten, shot and left for dead outside New York City’s Quad City Studios in 1994. The ambush waged a war in hip-hop pitting one coast against another and eventually leading to the unsolved murders of Pac and East Coast rap rival the Notorious B.I.G.Pac insisted that friends of Biggie (born Christopher Wallace) and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs were behind the attack and now, new evidence may support that claim. The L.A. Times reporter who broke the story, Chuck Phillips, says he located the unnamed FBI informant from 2002 who named Jimmy Henchman as the one who arranged the attack, and he interviewed this informant. His story lines up with Pac’s. The reporter also says he talked with other witnesses who were at the studio that night and they’re all telling a similar story.Henchman and promoter James Sabatino allegedly lured Pac to the Quad City Studios that night, offering him $7,000 to record a track. According to reports, three men were waiting there to attack Pac, with directions to beat him and to make it look like a robbery, but not to kill the rapper. A member of Pac’s own camp is said to have cooperated with the assailants, keeping them abreast of his movements throughout the night and even telling them of the $7,000 payment.Phillips interviewed the three alleged assailants, all currently in prison on unrelated charges and two of them admitted to the attack on Pac. One said Henchman arranged the hit and another, confident that the statute of limitations had run out, offered to produce a medallion taken from Pac that night. The other alleged hit man denied involvement. The attack was reportedly set up because Pac was offered a deal with Bad Boy and he refused. Diddy, Biggie and Henchman are said to have seen this as disrespect. Biggie and Diddy allegedly okayed the attack but did not know Pac would be shot.Rosemond and Combs both responded to these allegations, denying them as false, in separate statements this morning.”In the past 14 years, I have not even been questioned by law enforcement with regard to the assault of Tupac Shakur, let alone brought up on charges,” Rosemond responded in a statement. “Chuck Phillips, the writer who in the past has falsely claimed that the Notorious Biggie Smalls was in Las Vegas when Tupac was murdered and that Biggie supplied the gun that killed Tupac — only to be proven wrong as Biggie was in New Jersey recuperating from a car accident, has reached a new low by employing fourth-hand information from desperate jailhouse informants along with ancient FBI reports to create this fabrication. I simply ask for all rap fans and fans of Tupac to analyze this fiction for what it is along with Phillips’ motives behind it. I am baffled as to why the L.A. Times would print this on its website when a simple and fair investigation would reveal that the allegations are false. I am currently consulting with my attorneys about my legal rights regarding this libelous piece of garbage.”Diddy offered a statement as well.”This story is beyond ridiculous and completely false,” he said. “Neither Biggie nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. It is a complete lie to suggest that there was any involvement by Biggie or myself. I am shocked that the Los Angeles Times would be so irresponsible as to publish such a baseless and completely untrue story.”Sabatino declined to comment.Federal prosecutors have continued investigating the attack as well as the murders of Pac and Biggie and have called several music industry sources to testify before a grand jury about the incident.
